Quest to find the best high tea in Sydney; 'The Atura Hotel.'

'The Atura Hotel' is located in Blacktown, next to the Drive-in cinemas and is close to Wet 'n' Wild. It was easy to find and had on-site parking. I bought this as a present for my father so it needed to be male friendly. The 'High Tea' was served on a three-tier vinyl record cake stand.

Food & Drink

The portion was huge for a high tea. The Reuben sandwich was nice and was balanced well. The beef slider was delicious. The meat was incredibly tender and full of flavour. The cheese toastie was simple. Simpleness perfected. It was the best cheese toast I've had.

The scones were warm, fluffy and well accompanied with the beautiful cream. I personally don't eat jam and the staff were more than happy to oblige me with butter instead. The other sweet treats included a mini piglet stack with a honeycomb topping. It was nice, and the honeycomb offered a nice crunchiness to the stack. The other sweet was a mini rocky road cupcake. Delightfully fluffy and light with delicious frosting onto. Perfect.

The hotel uses the T2 brand of tea. I ordered the lemongrass & ginger and it was beautiful.

Staff

I booked through Red Balloon and somehow the timing I was given by them was incorrect to the timed booked at Atura. In fact, it was a 2hr difference. The staff were accommodating and were more than happy to take us in earlier, even though it was definitely an inconvenience for them. From the receptionist to the waiters, all staff were polite, helpful and friendly.

Venue

The high tea takes places in the lobby and restaurant area of the hotel. It is a beautiful space. The decor is industrial, urban and arty. It is a funky area which overlooks the pool oasis area.

Price & Value for money

At $45 per person, it was very reasonable. I thought the food would never stop coming. It was definitely the most filling high tea I've been to.
